Awards Night

Little Ones on Fitzroy, the Clarence Valley’s largest baby nursery store, won the Outstanding New Business category in the North Coast Local Business Awards on Friday 17th October 2008. Owner, Louise Thompson, and Store Manager, Rod Cannon, attended the gala event which was held in Coffs Harbour. Businesses from Newcastle to the QLD border contested the awards. Little Ones on Fitzroy only began operations in May 2007, making this an impressive accolade that we are very proud of. Little Ones on Fitzroy was also a finalist in the NSW/ACT State Small Business Awards held in Sydney in September.

We would like to thank all our loyal and important customers who voted for us. We would also like to thank Hayley for her dedication and work ethics in helping to make this very possible.

Small Business Award 2008

On Saturday the 13th September three members of the Little Ones On Fitzroy team ventured to Star City Sydney for the chance to be crowned Small Business Champion for New Business in NSW and ACT.

We arrived at the Star City Casino where we enjoyed pre-function drinks before entering the ballroom ready for the awards presentation. It was like going to the Oscars!!

There were massive tv screens which were being fed live footage from the night. The entertainment were dancers and singers all hosted by Ben Fordham. We enjoyed a beautiful three course meal whilst watching the category finalists on the big screens. Finally it was our turn and we had many finalists in our category. I was so nervous. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful but in so many ways we are still proud of our achievements to get this far.

We would like to thank everyone involved in such a wonderful night and congratulate all the winners and the finalists. We look forward to next year.

Kidsline Trip - 13th March 2008

Today we flew to Sydney from Coffs Harbour, due to a kind invitation from Kidsline Australia Pty Ltd. We went to inspect the Warehouse and Showroom, and meet and greet with other Kidsline customers.

The day began at 5:30am for Louise and I as we had to catch a Virgin Flight from Coffs Harbour courtesy of Kidsline. We were met at the Sydney airport by Alex our kind and courteous Regional NSW Manager from Kidsline. We spent the first couple of hours looking through the Showroom and Warehouse. This gave us a greater insight as to what lines are and will be available. Looking at the new lines on display and some of the existing lines, which were also on display made this visit a very interesting and informative one for us. It also gave us, Little Ones On Fitzroy, a broader knowledge of the lines and hence a greater ability to inform our customers.

It was great to meet the Kidsline staff and to put a face to the voice from our frequent telephone calls to Kidsline. Thank you Mike, Michelle and Jenny for making us so welcome. We also had a quick visit to the viewing platform where we were shown the vast warehouse holding capabilities and its day to day operation.

Upon leaving Kidsline Alex, Louise and I had a wonderful counter lunch at the local Botany Hotel and then proceeded to visit one of Kidsline top customers, to view how they have displayed Kidsline merchandise. Alex then drove us to the airport for our return trip back home. The day was complete when we arrived home in Grafton at 5:15pm.

Please accept Little Ones On Fitzroy’s deepest appreciation and thanks for the generosity offered to Louise and I during this visit. Thank you Alex for your generosity as well as your patience and time extended to us on the day. A special thanks as well to you Michael, for going above and beyond on behalf of Kidsline. We were sorry that we missed you during our visit.

I believe this trip has been of great benefit to both Kidsline and Little Ones On Fitzroy as it has continued to nurture our already excellent business relationship on a financial, personal and professional level.

We look forward to your next trip up our way Alex to help us celebrate our 1st Birthday on the 1st May 2008.
